Index – Homeland – Hungary celebrates the founding of the state
Katalin Novák began her celebratory speech at Szent István tér in Székesfehérvár by saying that this morning the flag was raised at Kossuth Lajos tér and that the inauguration of the national defense officers was witnessed. The soldiers took a solemn oath to defend Hungary’s independence, the rights and freedom of its citizens bravely, by observing and enforcing the Basic Law and the laws, even at the cost of their lives with the force entrusted to them.
The President of the Republic emphasized: these words resonate with even greater weight when war rages next door. Katalin Novák thanked the soldiers for their patriotism, determination and courage, and then wished that God would spare us from war.
They shouldn’t have to fight for national defense, don’t allow them to engage in wars of conquest, and don’t let us become a battleground for great powers. We, the country’s leaders, must do everything possible to prevent bloodshed on Hungarian soil.
Katalin Novák continued with the question of whether it is necessary or possible to celebrate when guns are being fired in the neighborhood, when we have to face serious economic consequences, when our lands are thirsty for rain, prices are rising, it is uncertain whether there will be anything to heat, and hundreds of thousands of families are rethinking their spending.
The President of the Republic stated: we need the holiday now, in fact, right now we really need to look at our common life from a perspective that helps us understand our past, see our present realistically and help our future with wise decisions, now we need to draw strength from “the wisdom of Saint István, From his faith in God, his foresight, his tact, his courage, his modesty”.
Katalin Novák explained that St. Stephen’s Day is a joyous holiday, we have reason to celebrate, this root cannot be torn out of the hearts of the Hungarian people, our destiny is intertwined with Europe, and we strengthened the same commitment when we joined the European Union. According to the President of the Republic, Szent István made the right decision and the Hungarians who changed the regime also made the right decision. He added: the question today is not where we belong, but whether the natural home of Hungarians, Christian Europe, will still exist in twenty years, let alone a thousand years.
Katalin Novák believes that we need the community of European countries, and they also need us, we need to recognize the same values and interests, which are significant differences between countries and the resulting opportunities, “I also know how to take “.
The prerequisite for our cooperation and understanding is that they do not blackmail us, neither with the money we deserve, nor with ideologies rejected by the Hungarians. Hungary wants to increase the power of Europe, amplify Europe’s voice.
Katalin Novák also touched on the fact that we are living in difficult times, and even more sobering times are coming. The President of the Republic sees that the restoration and preservation of order in the world, and within Europe, requires brave, decisive and wise leaders who are capable of maintaining law and justice, who measure their lives and work in a deeper and higher context than everyday political struggles, who can remain patient and sane, and when making decisions that demand sacrifice and harm their interests, they do not forget the fallen and the needy.
He also noted that we are facing a test, but what is needed are not merely good leaders, but sane, insightful, wise and solidary Hungarian people. According to Katalin Novák, Hungarians are crisis-resistant and have the ability to stick together, even if it is often not visible. The President of the Republic asked for a joint practice so that twenty years from now, even a thousand years from now, our national prayer on St. Stephen’s Day can be said in Hungarian and have someone to sing it.
Bread is the leaven of the family, the family is the leaven of the nation
Katalin Novák also spoke, the Christian state unites us, and this is not simply a question of faith, because when the National Anthem is played, every Hungarian person puts on a festive spirit, this goes beyond everything, the National Anthem invites everyone to celebrate together, and bread is not the same differently, because body and soul belong together.
The President of the Republic continued by saying that “we housewives” do not only pay attention to professional movements when baking bread, but also think about those for whom the bread is baked.
The bread broken together becomes the leaven of the family, and the family is the leaven of the nation.
Katalin Novák underlined: as long as there are people who have children and raise them responsibly, Hungarianness will continue to grow, and the establishment of a state is similar to the establishment of a family: it requires courage, faith, determination and hope for the future. The President of the Republic welcomed the decision that subsidies and discounts to help families will be available next year as well.
Today, on our nation’s holiday, I wish you, ourselves, that there is always bread on the table and that there are people with whom it is a pleasure to sit around the table. As long as we are able to pay attention to our parents and grandparents, as long as our children and grandchildren feel it is important to tell us stories, we will have someone to bake bread for.
