Sweden Food Pantry lottery winners donate winnings back to the pantry
After a flurry of last-minute ticket purchases at Sweden Days on Saturday, August 6, the winning raffle was drawn at 12:30 outside the historically restored schoolhouse. The winner was Dr. David Sundwall from Sweden and Salt Lake City, Utah. Sundwall donated his $894 winnings back to the pantry, according to a news release from organizers.
The 50/50 raffle was made possible because of everyone who bought tickets from Sweden Food Pantry’s volunteers and board members.
It is the second year in a row that the event has conducted a 50/50 lottery as an important fundraiser in connection with the popular city event Sweden Days.
Sweden Food Skafferi is open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month. The pantry serves the towns of Sweden, Lovell, Fryeburg, Stow, Stoneham, Waterford, Harrison and Bridgton. The pantry does not turn away any eligible family.
