Reunion in the country for the Villefranchois of Paris
Tuesday, August 9, was “Banquetou” day for the Amicale des Villefranchois de Paris, of which about fifteen members registered for this traditional meeting combining gastronomy and the visit of the Aveyron heritage. Thus the members of this association found themselves in Laramière for a guided tour of the priory under the guidance of the owner of the premises before heading to the Bourdié inn in Bach for the mid-day feast. The afternoon program then took them to the Cloup d’Aural phosphatières which constituted a moment of pleasant coolness particularly appreciated on this hot summer day.
a renewed office
The Amicale des Villefranchois de Paris covers the natives of four cantons of western Aveyron. This is how we find Aveyronnais from Capdenac, Najac, Villefranche and Villeneuve. It is part of the Federation of Aveyronnais from here and elsewhere bringing together around eighty associations (friendly, cultural and sports associations) having a link with Aveyron.
After 26 years of good and loyal service, Michel Estival, the president of Villefranchois de Paris decided last spring to pass the baton. It is therefore now another solid link in the chain of friendly Aveyronnais who took the presidency of the association with an office composed of Jacques Dablanc and Michel Estival (honorary presidents), Michel Blanquet and Philippe Moles (vice-presidents) , Monique Blanquet (secretary), Pierre Moisset (assistant secretary) and Jacques Fraysse (treasurer).
The new office, after two years of forced inactivity linked to covid, will have a lot to do to revitalize the friendly spirit which is also suffering from an aging of its members. The next meeting fixed by the association is the Aveyron country market in the Paris region (at the Parc de Bercy) on 7, 8 and 9 October. Many representatives of Aveyron will be present. The date of the winter banquet is not yet fixed, but the president promises that the program will be revisited.
