Toulouse. Brick and pastel, copper, grey: why these colors for Tisséo buses?

Impossible to miss hundreds of buses who, every day, roam the streets of Toulouse and the surrounding area. Behalf 589, they transport travelers in and around France’s fourth largest city. But they wear different colors…
Buses will eventually be replaced
The blue and yellow colors, emblematic on Tisséo buses, are eclipsed. ” bricks and pastels will come to replace them, in the long term”, indicates the service of transport to Toulouse news. “They ride NGV”, a natural gas essentially composed of methane and which is defined as being the fuel of sustainable mobility.
As for the new look, it “is inspired by the color and material codes of the city, like baked clay which composes the bricks of Toulouse and the pastel”. At the end of November 2020, Tisséo also planned to deploy a ” hundred of these buses within three yearswhich will be assigned to the Atlanta depot”. 45 clean vehicles had already been purchased from the French manufacturer Iveco: an investment of 13 million euros.
The park renewed by 2026
The Joint Syndicate of Transport of the Toulouse conurbation has been keen, for several years, to renew its car fleet by 2026. The objective is simple: to put an end to diesel vehicles, on the 133 bus lines that criss-cross the territory of Toulouse Metropolis. In the spring of 2022, of the 589 buses that make up the Tisséo fleet, 331 run on CNG, 217 on diesel, 25 are hybrid, and 16 are electric.
Copper as a symbol
Two other colors stand out for the other vehicles that make up the Tisséo fleet. The copper, and the gray. The first reason simply concerns “electric vehicles”. In October 2019, a fleet of six standard electric buses had just joined the park of the Tisséo network. Its president, Jean-Michel Lattes, explained that “copper is the traditional driver electricity “.
Who says gray says… Linéo!
Finally, the last color is therefore the grey, which is associated with the Linéo buses. It was in the spring of 2016 that Tisséo gradually acquired these Hybrid model vehicles. “He allows to reduce by 25 to 50% greenhouse gas emissions”, greeted the transport service”.
