The Monacair company, created by Stefano Casiraghi, goes under the American flag
The American company Blade Air Mobility aims to become the largest helicopter transport service in Europe and would benefit from its vertical aircraft models, which are still in development.
The American company Blade Air Mobility is developing in Europe. Specialized in urban and aerial mobility, the company is already well deployed in New York, Vancouver and India. With its latest acquisition, the American firm has signed agreements with three European helicopter transport companies: Monacair, Héli Sécurité and another whose name has not yet been revealed. In total, these three companies generated 30 million euros and transported 125,000 passengers in 2019.
These acquisitions should allow the American company to become the largest helicopter passenger service in Europe. Monacair was already one of the most important. Founded by Stefano Casiraghi, the company organizes no less than 50 round trips per day between Nice Côte D’Azur airport and Monaco, in addition to the carrier Prince Albert II, the Princely Family and members of the Government.
Changes for Monacair?
For the moment, the acquisition of Monacair by Blade Air Mobility should not have an impact on the helicopters of Monaco. On the other hand, the arrival of the American firm in the Principality is a real bet on the future. Indeed, in the long term, Monaco should adopt the Electric Vertical Aircraft (EVA). A new silent and emission-free air vehicle.
While Monacair mainly offered flights between Nice Côte d’Azur airport and Monaco, the arrival of Blade Air Mobility should also develop air links with other heliports in Italy and the south of France.
The agreements also awarded to the current CEO of Monacair, Damien Mazaudier, is preparing to join the management team of Blade Air Mobility.
” Blade’s powerful global platform, technology and brand, combined with Monacair’s strong operational history, aircraft management business, strategic infrastructure and customer trust, form an unbeatable combination that amplifies urban air mobility in Europe. On behalf of the Casiraghi family, we support […] the European launch of Blade’s commercial services said Marco Casiraghi, co-founder of Monacair.
