Wolves target Ludovic Ajorque left on the bench by Strasbourg
Announced Wolves striker Ludovic Ajorque was named on the bench today by Strasbourg manager Julien Stephan.
The French side were in Ligue 1 against Nice, looking to bounce back from losing their opener to AS Monaco.
One would have thought that Stephan would have named Ajorque as a starter.
The 28-year-old scored 12 goals and eight assists in all competitions last season.
And in 2020/21 he has scored 16 goals and made four assists.
He is undoubtedly one of the most dangerous players in Strasbourg.
So for Stephan to instead appoint Kevin Gameiro and Habib Diallo in a strike partnership is quite surprising.
Ajoque finally managed to replace Gameiro in the 81st minute.
Of course, at the moment, Ajorque is linked with an exit from the club. So it’s possible that this is a reason why he doesn’t start.
Wolves have reportedly taken an interest in the star in recent weeks.
Wanderers officials reportedly watched him in a pre-season friendly against Liverpool.
Wolves signed Goncalo Guedes on Monday but it’s believed the club will likely move for a full striker in addition to the 25-year-old.
Guedes can play in the middle, but he is first and foremost a winger.
It is believed that Ajorque could cost around £12.6m.
Potential move to Wolves in prospect for Ludovic Ajorque
It will be interesting to see if there is any movement on this in the coming days.
It seems odd that Ajorque is on the bench for Strasbourg considering his top scorer status.
Maybe that suggests something might be on the way.
Let’s hope that’s the case as Wolves lacked a focal point again this weekend against Fulham.
Someone like Ajorque would be really good for the wolves. He’s a big threat in the air, but he’s also a lot more technical than he looks.
