Vaccination offer is expanded again – tirol.ORF.at
Coronavirus
The range of vaccinations in Tyrol is being expanded. In addition to our own vaccination campaigns in the communities from the end of August, there will be additional vaccination centers, adjusted opening times and the vaccination bus again. The National Immunization Panel (NIG) recently recommended a booster vaccination for everyone over the age of 60.
Some municipalities offer their own vaccination options in late summer or early autumn, and vaccinations continue to be given by many resident doctors. With the vaccination centers in Telfs, Landeck, Hall and Kitzbühel, in addition to the existing ones in Innsbruck, Imst, St. Johannn, Kufstein, Lienz and Reutte, there are currently ten vaccination centers in Tyrol and the stations of the vaccination bus, called it Seiten des Landes.
With the new offers, the Covid vaccination is practically on the doorstep. This practice has proven itself. “Now that a booster vaccination is recommended for many people is the ideal time to start the autumn safely afterwards,” says Health Director Theresa Geley in a broadcast.
Recommendation of the Vaccination Panel
The country draws attention to the latest recommendation from the National Vaccination Panel (NIG). In it, the booster vaccination after the basic immunization is now recommended for all people over 60 years of age. “The experts recommend a booster vaccination for everyone over the age of 60 and all risk persons from the age of 12,” says Health Director Geley.
The current study situation would underpin the protective function of vaccination. “We know that the effect of the vaccination wears off more quickly in older people and with certain previous illnesses than in healthy, immunocompetent people. It is therefore recommended to have a booster administered four to six months after the third vaccination or after an infection in order to to remain well protected – especially in preparation for the fall,” says Geley.
Afternoons for seniors and advice for pregnant women
The country once again refers to the senior afternoons on Wednesday in the Innsbruck vaccination center. There are additional staff to take the time to advise the elderly population. Advice and vaccinations are also offered by gynecologists for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and women who want to have children – every Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. also in the Impfzentrum Innsbruck.
