The human story of the Piacenza intellectual Aldo Braibanti in the film in competition in Venice. Director Gianni Amelio back to the film festival with film “The lord of the ants”played by Luigi Lo Cascio, Elio Germano, Sara Serraiocco and Leonardo Maltese.
A work written by Amelio with Edoardo Petti and Federico Fava, which retraces the vhuman story of the writer, poet, entomologist and intellectual born in Fiorenzuola d’Arda in 1922 and passed away in 2014, victim in 1968 of what was called the “Braibanti case”ended with the accusation of psychological plagiarism of a young man by Braibanti and the sentence of the latter to 14 years in prison.
Shot largely in the Parma and Piacenza areas, where Braibanti grew up, the film, as reported by the portal of the Emilia-Romagna Region – “was produced by Kavac Film by Marco Bellocchio and Ibc Movie, with Rai cinema and Gare d ‘ contract, receiving the support from the Emilia-Romagna Region through Emilia-Romagna Film Commission. It is the first time that a work supported by the Regional Audiovisual Fund is competing in the flagship of the International Film Festival“.
“Il Signore delle Aniche” will be released in Italian cinemas from 8 September thanks to O1 Distribution.
