Bus drivers join LANV – Liechtenstein
VADUZ – In the past, employee representatives have repeatedly criticized the working conditions in public transport. In order to be prepared for future challenges, all bus drivers now want to join the LANV.
After Postauto had been responsible for regular services in Liechtenstein for almost a century, the scepter changed last year. The LIEmobil awarded the implementation of the Regular service after a public tender in mid-December 2021 to the BOSPS Anstalt, a joint cooperation between Bus Ostschweiz (BOS) and the Philipp Schädler Anstalt (PS).
Together with the employee representatives (ANV), the trade union LANV has agreed new general employment contracts for the bus drivers with the contractual partners BOSPS Anstalt and LIEmobil. “Despite improvements in wages and breaks, the switch from Postbus to BOSPS did not go smoothly,” says a statement from the Liechtenstein Employees’ Association (LANV).
For example, pay slips were sometimes incorrect because the working hours and holiday credits were not listed correctly due to software errors. Expenses were also billed incorrectly. In addition, the entry and exit times should be reduced to five minutes – i.e. the minutes in which the drivers have to prepare the buses for the journey or follow them up.
The workers’ representatives of the wagon drivers asked the union for further support. During a conversation in July, the contractors were able to agree on a restart. In order to be prepared for future challenges, all bus drivers now want to join the LANV. According to the statement, LANV union representative Fredy Litscher is overwhelmed: “We have been fighting for better working conditions for the release of public transport for many years. I am delighted that this commitment has been rewarded with a collective entry into the LANV.”
ANV President hands over scepter
Herbert Frick, long-time ANV President of the car drivers, is also relieved. Together with the LANV, they have worked intensively for the concerns of the bus drivers in recent years. “Now that all my colleagues have recognized the added value of membership in the LANV, the time has come for me to take things a little easier within the ANV,” says Frick. He hands over the office of President to Martin Schächle.
