OM Mercato: Focused on reducing its workforce, the management of Olympique de Marseille is struggling to eliminate a defender.
OM Mercato: Sevilla FC throws in the towel for Duje Caleta-Car
The next few days promise to be very eventful on the side of Olympique de Marseille, which are planning a major overhaul of its workforce. Indeed, if Alexis Sanchez is close to making a joint commitment with OM, the Marseille leaders will have to sell some elements in order to alleviate the club’s finances which are in the red. The Marseille management has even already planned to get rid of a few players. Konrad De La Fuente, Cédric Bakambu, Kevin Strootman or even Bamba Dieng are pushed towards the exit door. Duje Caleta-Car is also cited among the potential departures.
The Croatian defender comes to the end of his contract in June 2023 with OM. The Marseille leaders therefore wish to sell him this summer in order to prevent him from going free at the end of the season, like Boubacar Kamara. Marseille leaders hope to complete his departure in the coming days. The concern is that the suitors do not flock for his transfer. And the list of suitors continues to shrink as it goes. The AS journal indeed ensures that the Sevilla FC would have finally thrown in the towel for Duje Caleta-Car in order to turn on another defensive track. Andalusian leaders would now choose victor nelson (Galatasaray) to succeed Jules Koundé, who left for FC Barcelona.
OM Mercato: Marseille will have to find a solution for Caleta-Car
This withdrawal from FC Sevilla is therefore a real blow for Olympique de Marseille, which hopes to receive a nice touch on the future departure of Duje Caleta-Car. However, the case seemed to be off to a good start between the different parties. From now on, the Marseille club will have to find a new taker for the Croatian defender. Lately, the 25-year-old has been regularly announced in the Premier League, where West Ham was still considering attracting him. While the management of OM would expect an amount between 10 to 15 million euros to act on his departure. However, the principal concerned does not seem really inclined to change air. His firm position risks countering OM’s transfer window plans.
