F1 Prince Albert to the rescue of the Monaco Grand Prix
Prince Albert of Monaco intervened directly in the Principality’s troubled negotiations with Formula 1 over a new contract to save the Grand Prix in 2023.
So says Nico Rosberg, Monaco resident and 2016 world champion, as the championship prepares to unveil what is expected to be a 24-race calendar for next season.
Demand from potential new Grands Prix hosts is very high, which does not matter to France, Belgium but also Monaco could lose their place on the calendar.
Monaco is the most prestigious race on the calendar, but also the least lucrative for F1 due to its unique advantageous contract terms. Conditions that are now called into question…
“Prince Albert intervened precisely in the negotiations because the representatives of the Automobile Club of Monaco refuse to give in to the bosses of F1indicates Nico Rosberg, quoted by motorsport-total.com. In such a case, an intermediary was clearly needed to help both parties find common ground.”
“Prince Albert is now taking part in the negotiations because the Monaco Grand Prix is historic but also the most spectacular and glamorous race of the season” insists the German.

“The Grand Prix must be savedcontinues Rosberg. But it is clear that the organizers will have to adapt. For example, you often see banner ads from companies that are direct competitors of Formula 1 sponsors″
“So yes, they are in a difficult situation from which they have to find a way out,” concluded Nico.
