Toulouse. Coliving arrives in Lardenne
Widely developed in Northern Europe, coliving is slowly emerging in Toulouse. This formula, which is added to the various types of accommodation such as the airbnb, consists of sharing a large house while keeping its own space. Yves Lapeyre, owner of the Villa des Iris in Lardenne opens the doors to this new rental concept.
“More than accommodation, it’s a living space”, notes Yves Lapeyre from the outset. This former chemical engineer and owner of the Villa des Iris has completely restored this family home from 1920 where he grew up into a warm and personalized accommodation. A villa surrounded by a 300 m2 formal garden with private green spaces and a central fountain where water flows gently. “This house, transformed into five suites, is aimed at people who, tired of aparthotels, wish for private, professional or leisure reasons to stay in more authentic places”, specifies this one who twenty years ago – five years old, chose to change his life to get into real estate by doing everything himself: “I draw exterior and interior, I hunt for objects, I also recover materials to design furniture”. Spaces shared with other people but in which one can have kept a space of one’s own. “This completely renovated house is made for something different. Everyone has their own secure suite but can co-share, if they wish, the kitchen, the living room, the dining room and the garden.”
Widely done among millennials, this location formula is also a good way to save money and live with like-minded people. “Shared accommodation brings people from different backgrounds together, cooks together for example and makes new friends,” notes Yves Lapeyre. This peaceful accommodation where culture is also present, notably through numerous paintings by local artists, invites everyone to live as if they were at home”. An innovative concept which is beginning to have success: “I am expecting clients in August Norway for two months”. Yves Lapeyre who, in 2018, created his brand Les Maisons d’Yves launched the same formula in Quercy with the traditional accommodation complex, La Maison du Meunier in the heart of the village of Loze between Lot-et-Garonne and in the outbuildings of the castle of the poet Racan, a place steeped in history in Touraine.
