Zoo Cologne with sad news – kangaroo Isa is dead

“After a long, long life, we say goodbye to tree kangaroo Isa,” with these sad words begins the Facebook post of Cologne Zoo. The zoo claims the death of its female tree kangaroo.

The old lady was a proud 25 years old and, according to the zoo, was “by far the oldest tree kangaroo kept in zoos worldwide”. In the wild, the animals would often only be half as old.

Because of her old age, she has been shedding more and more in recent weeks and has hardly eaten, the animal keepers, the veterinarians and the zoo director came to the conclusion that they should be freed from their suffering.
