The Union: Toulouse at the table sets the table for the start of the school year
Second edition of Toulouse à table at L’Union, under the hall located at Lake Saint-Caprais, on September 2.
The Toulouse à table association is organizing a new food-truck evening on the shores of Lake Saint-Caprais on September 2. Meeting at 6 p.m. under the hall next to the lake to spend an evening of discovery, conviviality and music.
On April 8, San Biagio Square hosted a strange ballet of trucks at the start of the afternoon. Distributed around a stage, food-trucks began to spread out their terraces and take out the menu boards. A little further, local craftsmen unveiled their creations. Finally, a bar was quickly set up to welcome volunteers from the Toulouse association at Ttable.
In the heart of the square, rows of tables had been set up. From 6:30 p.m., the first musical notes of the Pim Pam Poum orchestra resounded, beating the reminder that curious gourmets were able to hear. More than 1,500 people came to visit this ephemeral village during the evening which ended around 11 p.m. Faced with such success, Toulouse à table quickly proposed a second edition in 2022. But the limits of the place became too small , this new opus will change location. In September, food-trucks will take over the Saint-Caprais hall. Eight trucks will be set up on the esplanade or under the hall. And the ingredients remain the same: a stage will host two groups to accompany the meals served between 6 p.m. and 11 p.m.
Link on the plate
Toulouse à table was born at the end of 2013. As its name suggests, its raison d’être is to bring Toulouse residents around a table, allowing them to discover the rich local gastronomy and its quality products. In a few words, it’s using the plate to create social ties.
To achieve this, it weaves its tablecloth by depending on restaurateurs, merchants, craftsmen or great chefs. Over the years, the association has organized many events, broadcast in the city center throughout the year. But the cardinal point of this gastronomic map remains the September festival. For a week, a gourmet village open to the public is set up in Toulouse, and offers seven lively days around the fork as well as themed evenings. The Union date will therefore be a preamble to the 2022 Toulouse festival.
