The Hungarian Wizz Air lands in Loiu to connect Bilbao with Warsaw
Business projects at Basque airports continue to gain momentum. With negotiations between DHL and SCS to provide financing for the Foronda airport hangar in the final stages, Loiu also continues to gain strength at the opposite end of the load that drives Vitoria airport: passenger traffic. the hungarian fresh airthe fourth operator of the continent in flights low cost, lands in Bilbao in an operation that can trigger a new price war with firms such as Easyjet, Vueling or Norwegian.
From March 28, soon 2023 and until the end of the summer season -in October-, the firm will connect the most populous city in Euskadi with warsaw. The Polish capital has two weekly flights with Bilbao as reported by the firm this Thursday in what will be the first connection between the Basque Country and the Chopin aerodrome in the Polish capital.
The journeys, lasting three and a quarter hours, will take place on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with departure from Bilbao at 11:05 a.m. and, in the case of Warsaw, at 7:00. Tickets can now be purchased at prices up to 50 euros, little more than double what has been offered for routes to points such as Barcelona or Alicante in their moments of lowest prices. Wizz Air’s move marks its first arrival in Bilbao, which leaves it up in the air to see if this is a commitment to seasonality or if it becomes the first stone of a firm commitment by the Hungarian operator to Euskadi.
