Environmental permit applied for for bicycle highway Brussels-Bertem
The Werkvennootschap is requesting an environmental permit for the realization of a new section of the important bicycle highway between Brussels and Bertem. The F203 has a total length of 15.6 km and should eventually connect Brussels, via Zaventem and Kortenberg, with Bertem and make a connection with the planned bicycle highway F29 in the direction of Leuven. The F203 starts at the regional border in Zaventem and is installed at the E40-E314 interchange in Bertem.
The first three zones between the Tollaan and the Oudjagerslaan in Zaventem have now been realized by the Werkvennootschap. The current permit application concerns the easternmost 7 km between the Dorpelstraat in Kortenberg and the interchange E40-E314 in Bertem. The municipality of Zaventem and Aquafin are examining the construction of zones 5 and 6. In the meantime, the Werkvennootschap is also studying the route for zone 7.
Bicycle bridges will be built on the Tervuursesteenweg and the Rabbit Pipe in Kortenberg. Cyclists ride without conflict under the Hollestraat and the Heerbaan. A bicycle tunnel will also be provided for safe crossing the N3. Connections to the local bicycle paths in the area are planned at Hoekstraat, Rabbit Pipe and Tervuursesteenweg. Cyclists can also get on and off the new bicycle highway in Hollestraat and Meerbeeksesteenweg.
