All summer, Toulouse news you discover what your district should apply to, in a few years, after the establishment of the metro stations. Seventh episode of the series: the station Fondeyre.
What you need to know about Fondeyre station:
Located in a sector in full revival, “at the interface of the economy and the residential”, raises Tisséo, this station will make it possible in particular to serve the Roland Garros professional high school, but also “to support the reconversion of the site (housing and school group)”.
Saved from the waters, the Fondeyre station almost didn’t show up anymore on the route… Presented from the first shots of the 3e line, it was then withdrawn because of the presence of a Seveso-classified factory nearby, before finally being reintroduced a year later. Tisséo had thus followed the recommendations of the scientific council, set up to analyze the alternatives to the route presented in July 2017.
Before and after the arrival of Fondeyre station, here is what the neighborhood will look like:
A neighborhood in full revival
During the public debate organized at the end of 2016, Tisséo showed that “the Fondeyre sector has a very significant potential for urban renewal, particularly in connection with sparse housing, aging activities, very large land companies”. The transformation of this sector is “already underway and it is necessary to control it, supervise it, even slow it down so that it takes place within the framework of a coherent urban project”.
The 3e metro line is a project that will “direct urbanization over several decades”, judged Tisséo. For the Fondeyre sector, “it is the creation of a real district that must be imagined, in a context of urban diversity combining housing, activities, facilities, shops… This district will have to be connected to the other centralities of the northern and take advantage of the proximity of a side channel to the Garonne upgraded and well integrated into the green and blue fabric of the city’s public spaces”. Since that date, car dealerships deployed in Fondeyre have already moved to make way for the metro. A last-mile urban logistics platform was also executed last December.
The facilities planned in Fondeyre:
In this district where major urban developments are therefore planned, Tisséo indicates that “the public spaces around the station are the subject of studies and an east-west crossing will be worked from avenue des Etats-Unis to rue Cervantès”.
