The Rolling Stones’ big “Sixty” European tour comes to an end on August 3 at the Berlin Waldbühne. The performance had not been planned from the beginning, the band expected the gig as an additional concert – after the failed show in Bern could not be made up for, which had to be canceled due to Mick Jagger’s corona infection.
The German fans got their money’s worth on Wednesday: As before in Munich and Gelsenkirchen, the front man was in a good mood and spoke to the fans in German several times. He also unpacked about his recent Berlin experiences.
Mick Jagger makes people laugh at the Rolling Stones concert
The band makes no secret of their love for Berlin. Their 1965 concert in the Waldbühne had degenerated into fan riots and chaos, this time everything was civilized. In a speech, Jagger lashed out and reported on the band’s landing in the capital earlier in the week. He is happy that Berlin-Brandenburg Airport is finally complete.
The construction of BER has become an international laughingstock over the years. Because while the costs of the airport continued to rise, the opening date was pushed back more and more. Mick Jagger didn’t miss that either. later the 79-year-old teased in German:
“What a bargain for 7 billion euros!”

The superstar chatted even further and praised Berlin for its culinary highlights. There is no better food anywhere in Germany. At this point, Jagger went into detail and revealed that he had a currywurst as soon as he arrived – with a high-proof “side dish”.
He raved about the delicious peppermint liqueur “Berliner Luft” and joked: “After five schnapps my German was perfect!” It is also such humorous anecdotes that fans love the singer for. At the performance in Munich, for example, he had talked about his previous trip to the English Garden on “Bikini Weather”.
Rolling Stones: Band and fans brave the heat
The thermometer on Wednesday in Berlin had reached well over 30 degrees during the day and it didn’t really want to cool down in the evening either. Jagger took the opportunity and twice dumped a bucket of water on the fans to the right of the stage, who were quite grateful. If the heat got to him, he at least didn’t let it show, towards the end the eternal rocker spoke of a “great evening” and even a “Midsummer Night’s Dream” – again in German.
By the way, guitarist Keith Richards also expressed his sympathy for the capital during the course of the evening, who attended as a singer on two songs (“You Got the Silver” and “Happy”). “It’s always something very special to be here in Berlin. You never know what’s going to happen,” he noted, referring to the scandalous 1965 gig.

A special musical highlight for the fans: In Berlin, the Rolling Stones performed the piece “Fool to Cry” for the first and last time as part of the “Sixty” tour. Before the start in Madrid in June, there was once again speculation that the Stones’ career as a live band could finally be over after this tour. Two months later, it doesn’t look like it at all.
Immediately after the final of the 2022 European Women’s Football Championship at Wembley Stadium, Prince William visited the next major sporting event in England. This time his wife Catherine and daughter Princess Charlotte accompanied him to the swimming competitions. There, the young royal creates a good atmosphere and a few laughs.
