Info the depeche. Toulouse: La Ramée beach will not reopen for the moment
Closed for a fortnight due to the proliferation of algae and the presence of cyanobacteria, La Ramée beach, near Toulouse, will not reopen this Saturday August 6 as first indicated.
No suspense to the row. Toulouse Métropole, manager of the leisure center and the beach that was born a few years ago on the banks of the lake, by the voice of Philippe Plantade, vice-president, announced this Thursday, August 4, that the site will not reopen not this Saturday as first confirmed.
Given the inventory, that is to say the always very important presence of algae which proliferated with heat, “we have not even requested the Regional Health Agency to conduct new analyzes of the Water, “says Philippe Plantade. Even before the health issue, lifeguards must indeed be able to observe the presence of a child in case he is under water. What algae does not allow. “It’s a matter of security. We can’t take any risks.”
The closure of the beach, whose season ends on August 28, is not final. But the vice-president does not advance on a new deadline. The opening of La Ramée remains dependent on the weather.
Opened on July 9, the beach, which can accommodate some 1,500 people, was only able to accommodate the public for seven days. It closed for the first time from July 14 to 19. Then again from July 22. Heat promotes the presence of cyanobacteria dangerous for human health but also dogs.
“It’s a somewhat special year,” says Philippe Plantade, even downright “screwed up” for the Ramée. The elected official is well aware of the frustration of the inhabitants of the agglomeration but “security remains the number one parameter”, he underlines. To date, “there are not too many solutions”. The lake is powered by the Saint-Martory canal with water from the Garonne. A river that also suffers from drought, hence a lesser diet of the row where water stagnates. A fortnight ago, the Metropolis had removed all the algae. But in vain since they are income.
On the rest of the lake, swimming is as always prohibited. This does not discourage swimmers.
