Toulouse. The Cinémathèque’s open-air festival breaks records
6,583 spectators halfway through! The Cinémathèque de Toulouse had never welcomed so many people in July as part of the Cinéma en plein air festival, the 19th edition of which began on July 9.
5,395 people (350 spectators on average per screening) gathered in the courtyard of the Cinémathèque to see films such as Captain Fantastic, Casablanca, Drunk, In the Mood for Love, La Cité de lapeur, Les Tontons flingueurs , Moonrise Kingdom or The Truman Show. As for indoor screenings (all films screened outdoors are shown in theaters the day after their outdoor screening), they attracted 1,188 spectators (80 spectators on average per screening) .
The public is very diverse and the screenings of the Cinéma en plein air festival attract both locals and tourists passing through.
The festival continues until August 27, with must-see films like Groundhog Day (August 4), Jeremiah Johnson (August 6), Gran Torino (August 7), Take Shelter (August 11), Mad Max: Fury Road (August 13), Under the Skin (August 18), The Fifth Element (August 19), Grave (August 25), Parasite (August 26), Pretty Woman (August 27) and many more titles. The outdoor sessions, which until then started at 10 p.m., will start at 9:30 p.m. from Wednesday August 10. And indoor sessions at 6:30 p.m. instead of 7 p.m.
