A new order confirmed for Airbus ! On Wednesday August 3, 2022, the European aircraft manufacturer announced an agreement with Etihad Airways bearing on seven A350F freighters.
Etihad boosts cargo capacity
This confirmation follows a commitment made by the Emirati company at the Singapore Air Show.
“These freighters allow Etihad to strengthen its cargo capacity by deploying the most efficient cargo aircraft available on the market,” Airbus said in a statement. An enthusiasm that Etihad also shares:
“We are delighted to extend our long-term partnership with Airbus to add the A350 Freighter to our fleet. This additional freighter capacity will support the unprecedented growth we are experiencing within the Etihad Cargo division. Airbus has developed a remarkable aircraft in terms of fuel efficiency which, in tandem with the A350-1000 in our passenger fleet, supports our commitment to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2050.”
Up to 109 tonnes payload
The A350F is capable of carrying up to 109 tons payload to serve all freight markets. “The aircraft has a large cargo door on the main deck, and the length and capacity of its fuselage are optimized for industry standard pallets and containers,” explains the European manufacturer.
“More than 70% of the A350F airframe is made of advanced materials, resulting in a 30-tonne lower take-off weight and at least 20% reduction in fuel consumption and emissions compared to its closest competitor,” adds Airbus.
Including this new order, the A350F has already won 31 firm orders from six customers.
