the transfer window live, arrivals, departures and rumors
The Ligue 1 season has not yet started but the summer transfer window has already started well! Usually very active on the transfer market with significant movements of young players, in particular, the Monegasques have for the moment very few departures for many arrivals in return from loans of promising players. After the departure of Tchouaméni and despite the arrival of the Minamino – Embolo duo, will AS Monaco complete its shopping before August 31? Zoom on the Monegasque transfer window, arrivals, departures as well as the latest rumors on the rock.
AS Monaco transfer window arrivals
- Takumi Minamino (Forward – Liverpool), €15m
Landed in Europe in 2015 after his training at Cerezo Osaka, Minamino’s rapid progress has made him a great hope for world football. At only 20, he joined RB Salzburg to play his first season in Europe during which he scored ten goals in 32 games. He caught the eye of Liverpool in January 2020, which recruited the Japanese. A year later and disappointing performances with only a few match fights played, Minamino was loaned out to Southampton, a disastrous six-month loan with just ten games played and a very disappointing performance.
His return to Liverpool, he is extremely decisive in his coming into play and despite often very short playing time. Hard-hitting and very embarrassing to opposing defenses due to his explosiveness, he should quickly become one of AS Monaco’s finest offensive weapons.
- Breel Embolo (Forward – Borussia M’Gladbach), €12.5m
Often better known for his performances with the national team than for his club matches, Breel Embolo has been on the rise since his debut in Basel in 2014. Bought nearly €27m by Schalke 04 in 2016, the Swiss started from a very low of his first seasons in the Bundesliga. With less than ten goals per season in teams often at the top of the table, he is a real worker, wearing down opposing defenses and often allowing his teammates to shine.
This was particularly the case during this season in Gladbach where Switzerland shined while highlighting the Revelations of the season of Gelsenkirchen players like Alassane Pléa, Stefan Lainer and obviously Florian Neuhaus.
- Thomas Didillon (Goalkeeper – Cercle Brugge, loan)
Quite an unusual scenario, AS Monaco and Cercle Bruges have exchanged goalkeepers. Seeing poloansi goalkeeper Radoslaw Majecki in Belgium and receiving Thomas Didillon on the rock, the two clubs opted for a particular technique. If the status of Didillon is simple, understudy of Alexander Nübel while certainly playing the Coupe de France, that of Majecki is much less so but he could start as in the last match of the Belgians in the league.
Yann Liénard a little too fair to take over from Nübel in the event of a problem, Didillon is a good option for the Monegasques to strengthen themselves while allowing Majecki to regain playing time.
- Willem Geubbels (Forward – FC Nantes, return from loan)
An essential player for Antoine Kombouaré last season in Nantes, Willem Geubbels, trained in Lyon, is returning to the principality. If the competition will be very high, he could take advantage of many matches on the Monegasque calendar to glean a few minutes of play and thus continue to learn and progress with a team that could play in the Champions League.
- Antonio Barreca (Left-back – Lecce, loan return)
Trained in Turin, bought by Monaco in 2019, Anthony Barreca has only chained loans since signing his contract. After a few rare appearances in the Monegasque jersey at the end of 2018 for the start of the Champions League campaign, the 27-year-old Italian had an experience with almost no playing time at Newcastle, a few ends of matches in Genoa and more recently three appearances in a year with Fiorentina in the 2020/21 season.
The last season was that of the Revelation for the former player of Torino. When the side of Lecce relaunched in Serie B, he made a good start to the season, accumulating two assists in the league and two in the cup before losing his place once again. It seems quite clear that the Monegasque staff must try to find a way out for him.
- Anthony Musaba (Forward – Heerenveen SC, loan return)
Trained in his native country, the Netherlands, Anthony Musaba chained two loans during his two seasons under contract with Monaco. The first at Cercle Brugge turned out to be very conclusive with a fanfare start to the season despite a more disappointing second half of the season, the second much less satisfactory at Herenveen. Having already disputed a few minutes of the Monegasque preparation, it seems that he could offer a solution in front only in the event of real glitches for the players above him in the hierarchy.
- Maghnes Akliouche (reserve)
- Félix Lemaréchal (reservist)

The latest AS Monaco transfer window rumors
- Malang Sarr on the way to the rock?
In search of defenders to fill the lack of profiles capable of chaining matches in the axis of the hinge, AS Monaco seems to have set its sights on the neighbor of Nice Malang Sarr who could quickly join the club of the principality.
