MonaBike in Beausoleil, a good idea yet criticized
To reduce traffic and develop soft mobility to and from Monaco, the MonaBikes have just been set up in Beausoleil. The editorial staff of Monaco Tribune to collect your opinions on this new arrival.
It seems that habits die hard. A large part of our readers lament the new installation of bicycles in Beausoleil. Not because MonaBike is being exported to France but because the station replaces parking for motorcycles and scooters.
“Already that we did not have many places for motorcyclesAlain quips. Serge also complains:20 fewer scooter spaces for those who come to do the shopping […] the scooter they [les personnes âgées] gets there, the bike loaded, no.”
“Great for businesses. Already all the parking lots have disappeared, now it’s the turn of the scooters. The result is less space and therefore fewer customers.worries Jean-Marc for the traders in the area.
Other readers like Yanick reassure: “I believe that scooter spaces have been added on Boulevard Général Leclerc to compensate. What Gérard confirms: “If in reality 9 spaces have been removed to allow the installation of electric bicycles, 10 new 2-wheel spaces have been added Boulevard du Général Leclerc in the extension of the containers. It should also be noted that the entire boulevard de la République is, on its left side, entirely reserved for 2 wheels, from the Afflelou shop to the Saint-Joseph church.”
Phew more fear than harm, bicycles and motorized two-wheelers can cohabit.

A good initiative destined to multiply?
Some welcome the extension of MonaBike to neighboring towns, as Carla testifies, “Excellent idea. Cheer“Florence”Very good initiative” or even Renato, “Stunning.”
This is also the case of Alain who answers “you should also put some in Cap d’Ail. “Is MonaBike also going to partner with Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Menton?” wonders Yanick who finds, moreover, that this new installation “is a good initiative that must have a chance. Habit change is now or never.”
Good news for Yanick and the others, if this station proves to be a success, it could be that other stations flourish in the communes bordering Monaco. Like what Nice is already doing with its blue bikes present from Cagnes-sur-Mer to Villefranche-sur-Mer and Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat.

Always being that in the Principality, success is already present. With 46 stations and 50,000 uses per month, at the height of activity, the MonaBike can boast of a bright future. The fact remains that in Monaco, the cycle paths are not always very well adapted, as Genieve points out: ” it’s rather dangerous to cycle in Monaco.”
