There were more than 86,000 job seekers at the end of July, a decrease of 2.7 percent compared to July last year. On a month-to-month basis, it’s a good 2 percent increase. There were also fewer than 8,000 job seekers under the age of 25, a decrease of 4.7 percent.
Among the unemployed in the Brussels Region, the long-term jobseeker is, in other words, two years longer. Six out of ten have at most a second degree of secondary education from a diploma that is not recognized in Belgium. Almost one in ten is younger than 25, three in ten older than fifty.
