The buildings go up at high speed in theextension of the activity zone of Saint-Andre-sur-Ornesouth of Caen (Calvados).
Legallais as trigger
The company Legallais paved the way by setting up its first logistics warehouse in 2005, 17 years ago!
“It’s true that this was a trigger for the activity zone. We had managed to recover Legallais, because we were close to the future bypass towards Boulon. We were the quickest to offer them a field and the conditions that are going well.
At the time under municipal management, the business area came under the control of the Caen la Mer urban community. Since 2005, companies have been set up around Legallais in the initial 20-hectare ZA. “Legallais was a driving force”, confirms Christian Delbruel. “Especially since there is no nuisance for the inhabitants given the location of the area”.
Restaurant, hotel and businesses will settle
A 13.5 hectare extension has been under construction since September 2021. After the servicing of the land, the first buildings have blossomed. And the warehouses multiply as the weeks progress.
An Arcelor-Mital depot, a restaurant, a hotel, a practice of physiotherapists and osteopaths, logistics warehouses or local developers have been set up on the site. “The extension of the activity zone is almost full. There are only two or three plots left for sale out of around twenty, ”rejoices the mayor of Saint-André-sur-Orne. “It’s very good for the sector, it brings activities, economic revenue for the municipality and Caen la mer, and it creates jobs. It’s not nothing “.
