San Marino: the “Medieval Days” celebrate the 40th anniversary of the musicians and flag-wavers group
There were about 185 replicas proposed yesterday by the artists during the third day of Medieval Days – 1462 Il Patto, a number fueled by the large and passionate participation of the public of visitors and citizens who reached the historic center of San Marino from morning to evening.
Among the fixed shows scheduled, at the Prima Torre, the San Marino association I Fanciulli and the Corte di Olnano & La Compagnia dell’Istrice, proposes a historical-reconstructive path of rare beauty in one of the symbolic places of San Marino, enriched for the occasion with evocative atmospheres of the 1400s. The high-level reconstructive representations of clothes, accessories and furnishing accessories marry the profound authenticity of the proposals for the scenic set-up and the spectacularity of the performances: duels, life scenes, dramatized on the events of 1462 / 63 and didactics on civil and military life.
In Domus Plebis, the visitor finds the field of La Cerna dei Lunghi Archi di San Marino which evokes the defense activity of the city lent over the centuries by the Cerne. The camp is made up of tents, field kitchens with demonstrations of historical culinary preparations and a large area delimited and secured for archery demonstrations and teaching about the use and construction techniques of bows and arrows in the 15th century. The drums of the Lunghi Archi Association perform and animate the field while some historical craftsmen expert in the construction of bows and arrows, according to medieval techniques, give the public how these artifacts are made.
The Gardens of Via Donna Felicissima host the installation of an exhibition of nocturnal birds of prey such as owls and owls of different species and origins which, under the loving guidance of their owner, are made known to the public. A real little ones to discover little or no known animals of great attraction especially for most such as the Lady of the Owls loves medieval stories, legends and fables about birds of prey.
The main show of the third day was the one dedicated to the celebrations of the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Musicians and Flag-wavers group of the San Marino Crossbowmen Federation at a quarry packed with people sitting on the stands and overlooking the battlements all around. About 60 flag-wavers and musicians have re-proposed a revival of the shows through which in these 40 years they have represented San Marino and its tradition within its borders and around the world. For the occasion, people who started this adventure in ’82 but who had not performed for over 20 years were recalled and, in addition to some new shows, they re-proposed the Court Ball that they had not represented for ten years. The Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati awarded to the Secretary of the show the two people who have made and marked the history of the group: Amedeo Venerucci, founder of the music group and when flag-wavers and Renzo Ghiotti, president of the Federation in 1982 the group was established.
To put everyone in a position to enjoy it, thanks to the availability of the Sordi Sammarinesi Association, in its spoken parts the show has been translated into LIS, the Italian sign language; In fact, inclusion is one of the themes underlying this edition of Medieval Days.
The fourth and final day of the event will culminate with the rediscovered Palio del Tricorniolo at 9 pm always in Cava, the traditional challenge between crossbowmen to designate the champion of the Palio, with the participation of the cities of Lucca, Massa Marittima, Pisa, San Sepolcro, Volterra who animated the important battle. The Captains Regent of the Republic of San Marino – Their Excellencies Oscar Mina and Paolo Rondelli – and numerous other San Marino institutions and authorities will also take part in the show.
