Food prices may fall in August 2022
According to her, the maximum supply of various vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, onions, carrots, beets, various types of cabbage and others) leads to a decrease in prices. That is why, during this period, Ukrainians are currently preserving vegetables or buying them in reserve.
“Although the situation this year may slightly expand compared to previous years, because due to the temporary blockade of the Kherson region and state supplies from this region, we should not expect very low prices, but a downward trend compared to July will definitely be observed,” the analyst added.
Also, in August, the harvest of the main Ukrainian fruit – apples, will be developed. Therefore, it is worth waiting for comfortable prices for apples, after which their supply will be sufficient. In addition, many grain crops are harvested in August, but by the time they are visited, more time is needed on the shelf, after which they need to be processed (dry, carry out certain processing, packaging, etc.). That is why they can reach the final consumer as early as September, Lytvyn noted.
