Linking Colomiers to Labège, via Toulouse-Matabiau, the 3e underground line will be long 27 kilometers. While the project is expected for 2028 in the Pink City, the bulk of the work will really start at the end of 2022 with the civil engineering works.
All summer, Toulouse News you discover what your district should apply to, in a few years, after the establishment of metro stations. First episode: the station Colomiers-Station, one of the two terminuses of the 3e line. This is where it goes
What you need to know about Colomiers-Gare
West terminus of the 3e line, this underground station will therefore be located near the Colomiers SNCF station, and served from the RN124, the axis which connects Auch to Toulouse, by interchange n°4 “Colomiers centre-ville”. Its purpose is to attract residents who reach the Pink City from the west of the agglomeration and the Gers, so that they leave their cars at the gates of the Metropolis. The roads in this sector are among the most congested in the city.
Reduce the flow of vehicles coming from the west of Toulouse
Remember that at the genesis of the project, this station was simply not not a la carte, since the initial route proposed by Jean-Luc Moudenc during the 2014 Municipalities started near the Airbus factories in Saint-Martin and ended at Astrium, which has since become Airbus Defense and Space. It was from 2016 that Tisséo integrated the scenario of a terminus at Colomiers station, located moreover approximately 10 minutes walk from the city center. At the same time, the initial project was also extended to the south-east, as far as Labège.
A true gateway to western Toulouse, Colomiers-Gare is destined to become a multimodal platform, where the metro station will be connected to the SNCF station, but also to the road network, and other soft modes of mobility, to relieve congestion in the west of Toulouse.
Before and after the arrival of the Colomiers-Gare station, here is what the neighborhood will look like:
With a relay car park in a silo
In view of today’s aerial images, and the model of the project, the station will be integrated into the future multimodal exchange hub, consisting of a park and ride in a silo (in lieu and place, in particular, of the existing surface parking lot), but also of a station bus, of parking lots bicycles “including 100 with regulated access in a secure room”, specifies Tisséo, without forgetting “a carpool drop-off/recovery area with 20 places”. Leaving Colomiers-Gare, the metro will continue in the 2e city of the agglomeration, on the side of Airbus Ramassiers.
