Portugal contributes €225 million to Santander’s half-year results | Bank
The Spanish banking group announced today that the Portuguese bank Santander will detain 225 million euros for consolidated results. In a statement sent to the Spanish stock market regulator, the CNMVSantander revealed that revenues by 14.0% of euros increased, despite the 3,613 million euros of financial income having increased by 2%.
The Spanish banking group saw customer assets in Portugal rise by 5.2%, mainly thanks to a 5.6% growth in deposits, which reached 43.77 billion euros. Compared to the first half of 2021, Santander closed 32 branches in Portugal, with 1072 fewer employees.
The Spanish multinational, which also has operations in Brazil, recorded profits of 4.89 billion euros in the first half of 20222, 33% more than in the same period last year. The country that increased the most costs for Brazil, with an ordinary profit of 1.37 million euros, 1% than in the first quarter of 2021, due to a rise in the minus and one of the reserves.
Santander said it registered strong commercial activity in the second quarter, despite market uncertainty. The Spanish bank reached a new record in customer assets, which reached 1.1 billion euros, thanks to a 4% growth, mainly driven by a 5% rise in deposits.
Santander consumer credit, financial companies also increased by 6%, loans to companies which increased by 6%, loans to companies which increased by 4%. In May, Santander shareholders to test the distribution are a capital increase of 273 million euros and 273 million euros. In 2021, the bank obtained profits of 298.2 million euros, 0.9% more than in 2020.
Santander Totta, one of the five largest banking banks, is fully owned by the Spanish group Santander.
