Ninova ready ban of paradise gas for children, will fine the discotheques – Bulgaria
The Minister of Economy and Industry, in resignation, Kornelia Ninova, announced yesterday that they are starting massive checks on the sale of paradise gas because of its mass use among teenagers.
According to a report by the Ministry of Health, the substance is extremely dangerous, produces Ninova. “This can cause brain swelling, in some cases death, fatal intoxication by suffocation, encephalopathy, neuropathy. It also leads to infertility,” she quoted.
“Decided and quick measures must be taken. This cannot remain so. We have two problems. One is bureaucratic incompetence, and the other is lost from the law that regulates this issue,” said Ninova.
Already on May 15, there was a meeting of the National Council on Narcotic Substances, where it was decided to analyze the need for the entrepreneurs of regulatory amendments and additions to the legislative framework, the Minister of Economy. He added that “there is no time for analysis”, but urgent measures must be taken.
That’s why the Commission for Consumer Protection starts immediate, massive and round-the-clock checks on restaurants, discos, bars and in social networks of online sales of paradise gas.
“Where you find that this happened, they will issue an act for a temporary ban on the sale, who does not comply with this measure, faces a fine of BGN 25,000,” emphasized the Minister of Economy.
According to her, the second question is legislative. This issue in a number of countries is regulated by bans and by restrictions, she said. She asked the parliamentary group of the BSP, of which she is the leader, to immediately introduce an amendment to the Child Protection Act, where in the text that prohibits the sale of cigarettes and alcohol, it is added and prohibits the sale of nitrous oxide (paradise gas).
Ninova said that regardless of whether there will be a government or not, “the problem must be urgently solved because it affects the lives of children.” She sent an appeal to parents to be sympathetic and alert the Consumer Protection Commission around the clock, who will respond to places where paradise gas is sold.
