when a young supporter manages to make people believe that he has signed for the TFC
Esteban and Rafael, two young TFC supporters, involuntarily made believe for a few hours that one of them had signed at the club, after an intrusion at the Stadium. Esteban recounts the deception in After Foot.
Rafael has (almost) realized the fantasy of all supporters: signing with his favorite club. A rumor that will have fed a specialized TFC site for a few hours, as he details in a thread posted on Twitter on Monday and which caused tens of thousands of reactions. Esteban, friend and accomplice of the young Toulouse, tells in theAfter the foot how they succeeded in their coup, starting from a simple unexpected visit to the Stadium.
“It all started with an afternoon when, being a fan of my club since I was little like my buddy, we thought we were going to buy the new ‘Téf’ jersey, explains the young man. With my uncle and my mother, we left. Once we were there and bought the jersey, we said to ourselves that we were going to take a walk on the forecourt to see the Stadium”.
“Since we have the Stadium to us, why don’t we owe photos as if we had just signed at ‘Téf’?”
This is when the impromptu visit begins, leading to their famous idea. “We arrive at the Stadium, we buy our shirts which are super beautiful, brand new, continues Esteban. As we walk around, we realize that there is a door to the Stadium which is open. We see it, we don’t really know if we have the right to go there. Finally, a gentleman who, I think, worked there ‘authorized’ us to go back if we weren’t doing something stupid. We said it was great nice, we were like kids to see the stadium again and walk in it. (…) Since we have the stadium to ourselves, why couldn’t we take pictures as if we had just signed for Téf for fun? I photograph my friend at the level of the stand of honor, I take him at the level of the mixed zone as if he has just signed at ‘Téf'”.
The joke is not limited to the two friends, who then decide to play with these photos, close to those of a player’s presentation, and to imitate a transfer. “We have a group of friends and other fans of ‘Téf’ on Instagram, we thought it was not going to be a bad idea to make them believe that a new player has signed without saying a name. , adds the supporter, not still aware of the magnitude that the story will take. Two days later, my friend calls me and tells me that a gentleman on Twitter has relayed the info that a young PSG player (who has the same last name) was transferred to Toulouse and that in the photo it’s me (him). I say to him ‘you’re kidding!'”
“Wait, I’m really going to end up believing that you’re going to play in Toulouse!”
And it does not stop there since a Toulouse media relays the false rumor: “After that, the Violets.com information group shares the information whereas when you are a Toulouse supporter, it’s really the best site. They’re really great guys. I tell him: ‘Wait, I’m really going to end up believing that you’re going to play in Toulouse!’ PSG is the family name.
The one who pretended to be a Portuguese U15 international was therefore unmasked a few hours later, which put an end to his dream. The media LesViolets.com then explained this error, regretting not having verified the source, “a reliable account concerning the young people of the TFC”. This lack of vigilance will have offered a short-lived career to a young supporter, who will therefore not have wasted his afternoon.
