A nice new observed at the Tennis Club of Court-St-Étienne
Gentlemen 55/1, a success
The Men’s 55/1 category was the novelty of this 2022 edition. “These old gentlemen are still classified as series B but they find few tournaments. With twelve registered players, this table has worked well and we are thinking of reopening it next year because we had good games and the behavior of these gentlemen has been super fair play.”
The players were delighted. “We had a good tournament, summarizes Yvan De Launoit (Leo). The bubble was the only problem because of the heat but we were lucky enough to play all our matches outside. The referee was very smiling and everything was perfect even if I took a beating in front of Michel. But, this one was excellent!”
Michel Carpentier indeed won this 100% Brussels final, 6/2 6/0. “A small club, very nice, with a great atmosphere, smiles the Orée player. We are delighted to have participated in this first tournament, especially since we do not have many, and in addition it is only about twenty minutes from home.
Club house project… and padel
At club level, “there is a big revival, welcomes the vice-president, Fabien Coulon. Our tennis school (directed by Laurent Dessart, Editor’s note) works well with a hundred members, which has allowed us to relaunch interclubs among young people who may not have participated for years. For the rest, we did not suffer from the Covid since we could play outside and there, everything is going well with some two hundred members. We have a project to build a new club house because ours dates from the 70s. We would also like to have more land and get into padel.”
