Ten years have passed, and there will be another census in Hungary in the fall
In their announcement, they wrote that the office supports persons with disabilities in the professional consultation with ten civil organizations and government partners in order for people with disabilities to be aware of the issues that concern them, because does not offer detailed information about their living conditions from other data sources. And they play a prominent role in the preparation and implementation of programs aimed at improving their situation and ensuring their equal opportunities. In addition, the answers are essential for the work of civil organizations supporting people with disabilities.
The KSH also asks people to answer questions about their state of health, as the results of the census are decisive in the long term for health improvements and investments that affect everyone.
A census is held between October 1 and November 28, the purpose of which is to provide an accurate and detailed picture of the size, demographic characteristics, health status, employment, living and housing conditions of Hungary’s population. Until October 16, households can fill out the questionnaire independently via the Internet, and from October 17 enumerators will search for those households that do not use the online option.
In Hungary, since 1870, a census has typically been held every ten years, the last national census was held in 2011. Between two “big censuses”, the statistical office often organizes a smaller population census, a microcensus, which helps to monitor social processes, the last microcensus was in 2016.
