Monkey pox: we explain how it goes for vaccination in Toulouse

Haute Garonne has 31 cases of monkeypox. This is what reveals July 22, 2022, the Regional Health Agency of Occitanie according to its latest data. The region Occitaniashe is the second most affected of Francewith 111 cases as of July 19, 2022. To counter the epidemic, vaccination against Monkeypox was opened to a wider audience.
Vaccination for whom?
“Pre-exposure vaccination” monkey pox has been open for a few days in France. This is the case in Occitania and in Haute Garonne. Where it is possible to get vaccinated directly through hospitals or the free information, screening and diagnosis center of the department, located at the grave hospital, in St-Cyprien. To be eligible, you must meet certain criteria.
“People eligible for vaccination are contact cases. Now, we also take people at very high risk of contamination. That is to say, men who have relations with men, with several partners, transsexuals, but also people who prostitute themselves.”
To be vaccinated, you must contact a hospital in the department or the CEGIDD to make an appointment. “There are no difficulties in access to the vaccine and for slots” underlines Thierry Cardouat, director of ARS Haute-Garonne.
Symptoms
The number of cases of monkey pox is on the rise according to the World Health Organization.
As a reminder, the symptoms of Monkeypox are the following: pimple on the face, on the sex and on the apples of the hands, fatigue, lymph nodes. Contamination can be done by: droplet, postilion and friction.
