U20 men’s basketball Euro – Belgium loses against Turkey and plays the match for 7th place
Belgium will play the match for 7th place in the Men’s Under-20 Basketball Euros after losing 75-78 after extra time to Turkey in their first classification match on Saturday in Podgorica, Montenegro.
Thijs De Ridder finished top scorer for the Belgian side with 23 points but was sorely missed in extra time by being sent off for five fouls. Second in their group, Belgium had first eliminated Greece in the round of 16 before falling to Spain in the quarter-finals. Following this elimination, the young Lions play the classification matches for places 5 to 8. Steve Ibens’ players will therefore play the match for 7th place against Croatia, beaten 83-71 by France earlier on Saturday at 6:15 p.m. . During the group stage, Belgium won in extremis against Croatia (76-75). (Belgian)
