Toulouse. Six TOEC swimmers have been selected for the European Swimming Championships

They are six to be able to dream of medals during the next european swimming championships a Rome (Italy). Selected by the French swimming team, six swimmers from Toulouse will compete there from August 11 to 21, 2022.
They come from the club of TOEC Dolphinslocated swimming pool Leo Lagrange a Toulouse. On the starting line: Adele Blanchetiere, Joris Bouchaut, Guillaume Guth, Antoine Herlem, Antoine Viquerat and Wissam-Amazigh Yebba, who will try to be the fastest. They will be accompanied by their trainer, Walter Monbergealso selected from the coaching staff.
A few first steps in the France team…
Of the six swimmers heading to Rometwo are doing their first swims in the French team: Wissam Amazigh Yenna and Guillaume Guth. And for the latter, the selection was a surprise. This is what explains Vincent Gardeau, director of the Dolphins of the TOEC. “For five swimmers, the selection was pretty much obvious. We have very specific qualification criteria for swimming. But for Guillaume Guth, we were uncertain. It was a great pleasure for him during the announcement. They are all very content with their selection.
Start of training intensifies
The European championships begin in just three weeks, and the swimmers have therefore already started training. These will take place in two stages: a first part in Toulouse until the end of July with an average of 25 hours of training per week. Followed by a second phase with the French team at the beginning of August just before the Championship.
Positive point for the Toulouse swimmers: these preparation phases are done in both cases with Walter Montbergé, their coach, also selected.
“The most for the swimmers is the selection of their coach Walter Monbergé. It is important for them because it allows them to have a benchmark on the spot and someone with whom they get along well.”
The TOEC at the top for 15 years?
Six swimmers selected for the European Championships… They were three for the recent World Championships in Budapest… with notably Leon Marchandwho won two gold medals and had the second fastest time in the world in the 400m medley.
The TOEC Dolphin Club shines in France for 15 years now. Its strength according to its president? ” Work, solidarity and quality club coaches. A radiance that he wishes to see continue.
“We have very good Toulouse swimming. We are really at our best, whether for swimming, training, muscularity, rest, etc… We have a real seriousness within the team. ‘crew’.
The President says that Leon Marchand was also qualified for this championship, but decided to take a break to come back better afterwards. His presence would however have brought to seven the number of Toulouse residents selected for the France team.
