“La Ramée beach is currently closed due to the presence of algae making the water unsuitable for swimming“, can we read in a tweet published this Friday July 22, 2022, on an alert account of Toulouse. Prohibited for the first time on July 14, then again authorized five days later, swimming within the base of leisure activities in the Métropole is once again prohibited.
This bathing ban, recurrent over the past two weeks, is linked to the presence of algae in the lake which makes the water unclean, it is indicated on the Toulouse Métropole website.
Located in the town of Tournefeuille, La Ramée beach is an unmissable spot in the summer, especially for Toulouse residents who want to cool off. Only then, high heat is conducive to the appearance of cyanobacteria which can release toxins that are potentially dangerous for humans.
The phenomenon could well continue because even if the heat wave alert has been lifted in Haute-Garonne, the temperatures announced for this weekend by Météo France exceeding 30°C. It will be particularly hot on Sunday July 24, with the mercury expected to rise to 36° in the evening.
