Judo Bond Nederland – Budo starts on Saturday at the World Police and…
On Saturday the budo part will break loose at the World Police and Fire Games. On Saturday and Sunday you can come and encourage jiu-jitsukas. On Monday and Tuesday it is the turn of the judokas. The tournaments take place in Rotterdam Ahoy and can be visited free of charge.
On Monday you can see Claudia Zwiers in action, among others. She is a two-time Olympian and winner of the bronze in 1996. Claudia Filmoser (2x bronze World Cup, 2x European champion) and Mei Ling Wu (several times on the podium at the Asian championships) also take the mat. On Tuesday, Christoph Kronberger, among others, will be in action, he has been on the podium ten times at the Australian Championships.
Cat Demonstration and Clinic
On Monday 25 July, a demonstration and clinic will be scheduled during the intermission block (12:00-13:00). There is a special mesh-up of the different kataforms for the demonstration. Meanwhile, the national coach, Sander Stammers, gives a brief explanation of the techniques that are being performed.
Afterwards there is room for a clinic and you can get acquainted with kata. The focus is mainly on the connection of competition judo with kata. It is not necessary to have any knowledge of judo to participate in the clinic. The clinic is also suitable for judokas from the adapted judo and there is no age limit. Participation is free.
About the World Police and Fire Games
The international games for personnel of the police, fire brigade, customs and the Correctional Institutions Service will be held in the Netherlands for the first time this year. From 22 to 31 July 2022, the Netherlands will be dominated by the World Police & Fire Games. For ten days, the port city of Rotterdam will be the beating heart of this grand and above all unique recreational sporting event. Judo and jiu-jitsu are traditionally two major sports at the event. The tournament will be held in hall 5 of sports center Rotterdam Ahoy. The competition days for jiu-jitsu are July 23 & 24 and for judo July 25 & 26.
