Hungary is helping to transport the grain stuck in Ukraine
Hungary will provide all the help to ensure that the grain stuck in Ukraine, primarily wheat, corn and sunflower, reaches different parts of the world, said Bence Rétvári. On Friday, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior held a press conference at the Eperjeske transshipment point on the smooth, continuous and rapid crossing of railway grain shipments from Ukraine. He indicated: they are trying to make the process smooth both legally and physically.
It was simplified and speeded up, he mentioned as an example that for the delivery of customs grain from Ukraine, it is sufficient to prove the place of origin of the goods with a declaration, explained the telegraph office. The phytosanitary procedure has also been made simpler to make transshipment faster. The police complete their task in 10-15 minutes per train.
Grain transport vehicles are received in an extremely accelerated procedure, the various procedures do not take more than 1-1.5 hours.
Bence Rétvári said that they work continuously at the transfer stations. MÁV strengthened eight tracks and put them back into service. Over the past four months, the transshipment capacity at Záhony Port and the surrounding transshipment stations has increased by five and a half times. In addition to the current transshipment equipment, mobile transshipment equipment was put into service. In addition to the public one, there are also private transfer capacities.
– Hungary also needs to ensure that the grain trapped in Ukraine reaches as large a quantity as possible by land to Europe, to the ports, and to the destinations. Hungary is doing everything it can to ensure that Ukrainian shipments reach all parts of the world, thereby alleviating the food crisis in the world caused by the Russian-Ukrainian war. This also means that the grain produced in Ukraine this year goes into warehouses, the state secretary listed.
Zsolt Hudák, the deputy chief of the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Police Headquarters, highlighted at a press conference that the police are paying attention to compliance with Schengen regulations, and despite the increased traffic, the number of personnel is available to check documents.
