Scooters on the sidewalks: 33% are legal in Rome
Scooters on the sidewalks: in Rome, 33% of young people who participated in the UNASCA-Voi Technology safety module think it is legal …
Scooters on pavements and on forbidden roads
The training module on safe driving of scooters in the city has already been integrated into the courses of 244 driving schoolLand Italian, 70 of which in Rome. Coming to interest about 2,000 Roman students. The latter, before the course, were asked to participate in a test on traffic and parking rules. With disconcerting results:
- 33% does not know the requirements that a scooter must have to be able to circulate (they must have obtained CE approval and be equipped with directional arrows).
- 33% does not know that it is illegal to ride a scooter on pavements and on any type of urban road (they can only travel on roads whose speed limit is within 50 km / h, in pedestrian areas, wherever the circulation of bicycles is allowed).
- 31% he does not know that he can circulate in pedestrian areas, but that he must maintain a maximum speed of 6km / h (which is automatically reduced in sharing scooters).
- The 25% does not know that it is not allowed to park the scooters on the sidewalks. Another 25% do not know what the braking distance of scooters is.
Little knowledge also of the effect of altering substances
Another worrying thing that emerged: 25% of students do not know what it is the reaction time and that this increases if you drive under the effect of altering substances. In short, there is a lot to do, on a theoretical level and practical demonstrations. After two months of collaboration between UNASCA and Voi Technology, the first practical driving course scooters in the city of Rome near theTiburtina Valeria driving school. Following the theoretical tests, the driving schools have provided the trainees with the additional training module, which continues to be distributed throughout 2022. With the possibility of testing the knowledge acquired through the first and only digital and free driving school, Ride like Voilà, developed by Voi Technology. According to the two partners, in terms of safety, training is the only solution to create a culture of sharing of public space between pedestrians and various means of transport.
