On the agenda of the mayor, San Marino is a priority. “No more ups and downs, let’s start a close confrontation”
For Mayor Jamil Sadegholvaad, the issue of confrontation with the Republic of San Marino is one of the priorities. He repeated it several times, during the first months of his mandate. With a much more enterprising spirit than in the past. And now the intentions are put in black and white. “We have an understanding that you are the daughter of a job as soon as you are elected – explains the mayor -, we have had and want to continue a close confrontation with the Republic of San Marino. Our territories have a mutual need to grow. We have similar vocations, historically there have been ups and downs always in the sign of brotherhood, now in this particular historical moment, between wars, pandemics and energy crisis, we must work together “.
The agreement will be based on some key points. Health, transport, environment and energy policies, tourism and culture policies. “Then there is the crucial issue of the airport – underlines the mayor -, San Marino can dare to value the structure, we must work together to build a stronger airport”. Among the first actions, Consular road and cycle path. “The Consular – adds Sadegholvaad – is no longer adequate to the times and must be made safe. It is one of the first points to be addressed, even for those 6,000 cross-border commuters who travel for work every day ”.
Also present was the commissioner Moreno Maresi, who began the dialogue with the representatives of San Marino: “The element that best qualifies it is that of the desire to team up, in 1939 an agreement was signed between Italy and San Marino of friendship and good neighborliness. We must start from those pivotal points for common actions “.
“With this exchange of understanding – says the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of San Marino Luca Beccari -, we are significantly relaunching the collaboration between contiguous realities that have always been intertwined and interconnected in the challenges of economic, social and cultural growth. I am particularly pleased to have found strategic convergences between our administrations ”.
