The medal of the European Youth Wrestling Championship will go to Lithuania – Rokas Miliauskas in the final
Rokas Miliauskas (85 kg) will fight for the gold medal at the European Youth (under 15) wrestling championship in Zagreb (Croatia).
In the freestyle wrestling tournament, by the will of the lottery, the fights started from the round of 16. In the first round, coach Nerijaus Peleckis’ pupil defeated the Latvian Olaf Staugas early with a score of 10-0, and in the quarter-finals they defeated the Armenian Andranik Jaghetyan 11-0.
In the semifinals, Rok created another sensation, defeating Farhad Suleymanli of Azerbaijan 6-3 to reach the final and secure the championship medal.
On Monday, R. Miliauskas will compete with another athlete from Azerbaijan, Said Pashaev, in the decisive match for the gold.
Justas Beržonskis (62 kg) defeated Fljamur Ismailis from Macedonia 7:2 in the round of 16, but lost to Anri Goguadze from Georgia in the second round with a score of 0:10.
The latter later disappointingly lost in the semi-finals, so the Lithuanian did not enter the consolation tournament.
Edvinas Usinović, who fought in the same weight, defeated Alessandro Gasparini from Italy early with a score of 14:4, but lost to Justo’s abuser A. Goguadzei with a score of 0:10 in the second round.
In the women’s wrestling tournament, our country was represented by the only Greta Usinović (50 kg). The Vilnius native lost to Yelyzaveta Lutsenko from Ukraine in the first round, and the latter had to concede the Georgian advantage in the semi-finals. The Ukrainian’s defeat buried Greta’s hopes of competing for third place.
