Portugal 200 years of independence | Fantastic
One of the best-kept lychees in the history of Brazil, the heart of Dom Pedro I on his way to the country’s source is from the 200th anniversary of the Brazilian’s independence. It has been preserved for over 180 years in a church in Portugal. The Fantastic visited the mausoleum full of mysteries where the organ is kept.
The place chosen to keep the heart was the Irmandade da Lapa, a church founded in the 18th century. The relic was kept in a mausoleum in the main chapel of the church. There are five keys to find the organ of the Emperor of Brazil. And only the mayor of the city of Porto has them all.
The mausoleum is almost never opened. The last time was a few weeks, for a forensic examination. In February, the government made a request for the Brazilian heart to be brought to the celebrations of the bicentennial of independence, in Brasília.
“I authorize that the heart of Dom Pedro, Emperor of Brazil, be translated into Brazil on dates to be agreed between my office and the Itamaraty Palace. I will be the one to guarantee and monitor the transport of this treasure of the city”, highlighted the mayor of Porto.
Details such as the data and location of the relic’s exhibition during the September 7 festivities have not yet been released. The Fantastic sought after by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Brasília, but not received. See more details in the report above.
