Man beaten to death in Leipzig: four suspects from Berlin arrested
A good five weeks after a fatal attack on a 34-year-old in Leipzig, two teenagers and two young men from Berlin were arrested. The investigations resulted in several references to the group, joint public prosecutor’s office and police on Monday in Leipzig.
The suspects are between 15 and 20 years old. Arrest warrants have been issued for all four.
The quartet is accused of robbery resulting in death. There is an urgent suspicion, it said. According to the Leipzig public prosecutor’s office, they are said to have spoken to the 34-year-old victim on the evening of June 8 in Leipzig’s Hoyerstraße in the Schleußig district at his car. Then the man was so badly injured by two people that he succumbed to his discoveries in the hospital two days later. Cash and valuables were also stolen from the victim after the attack.
Last Thursday, investigators from the Leipzig criminal police, supported by Berlin officials and the Berlin and Saxony State Criminal Police Offices, searched nine properties in Berlin. Extensive evidence was secured, it was said, and several people were arrested.
The public prosecutor’s office did not provide any further information about the crime and how the investigators came across the group.
