Fires in Portugal. More than two thousand operatives were fighting 50 fires late this Monday afternoon
On the first of two days in which the entire continental territory is in alert situation by the Civil Protectionthe regions on the continent are now the most northerly by the flames.
According to interactive map available on the Civil Protection website, at 19:45 there were 50 rural fires in Portugal. Of these, ten were active, six in the resolution phase and 34 in completion. In total, these occurrences mobilized 2034 operatives supported by 603 land and 14 air assets.

Of these, fire in Murça (Vila Real) is the one with the largest number of operational personnel (256), land resources (87) and air resources (5).
This is followed by the fire in Guarda, which broke out in Quinta do Zambito, where there are 242 operational, 72 land assets and 6 air assets.
With more than a hundred operatives, two fires in Vila Real also stand out, the one in Vales (213) and in Bustelo (170).
Elderly couple found in charred car in Murça
A couple over 80 years old was found dead this Monday, inside a car that had lost track, in the village of Penabeice, in the municipality of Murça, the mayor of Murça revealed to Lusa. According to Mário Artur Lopes, the accident took place “in a burned area and the car was charred”.
The GNR is carrying out an investigation of the accident that occurred in a municipality in half of its territory, to the north, which is on fire.

At stake is a fire that broke out at 2:15 pm in a wooded area, near Quinta do Zambito, near the city of Guarda.
A source from the Territorial Command of the GNR da Guarda told Lusa that the flames reached three vehicles as they passed through the village of Alvendre. “The Owners [das viaturas] they left and when they arrived they had already been burned” by the fire, according to the source.

GNR car burned in Vila Pouca da Aguiar, no injuries
Also in Guarda, but in Vila Pouca de Aguiar, a heavy vehicle fighting the GNR was hit by flames in the fire today, and today the military emerged unharmed, a source from Guarda revealed to Lusa.

Fire in Bustelo (Chaves) passed to Spanish territory
The Bustelo fire, which started violently in the municipality of Chaves, had a “very reactivation” today, having already spread to Spanish territory, the District Commander of Relief Operations (CDOS) of Vila Real, Miguel Fonseca, told Lusa.
By mid-afternoon, the fire had a front that was burning “very intensely” with no populations at risk, however.
The flames have already designated to the side, being fought by a Spanish contingent from that same country, explained.
Amarante estimates 1,000 hectares of burned area in Serra do Marão
The fire that broke out for several days in the Serra do Marão, in the municipalities of Baião and Amarante, in the district of Porto, should result in a burned area of 1,000 hectares, estimated today by the Amarante municipality. According to the municipality, the data “are not official”, because the survey is still being carried out, together with Baião.
To Lusa, the municipal source indicated that a burned area mainly affected areas of bush on the Amarante side, in the parishes of Carneiro and Bustelo. During the day, fireworks and surveillance were also added to prevent re-ignitions.
Temperatures are expected to rise again from Wednesday
After a week of record temperatures in mainland Portugal, a wave of heat has moved north and is now in other Western European countries, namely France and Spain.
In Portugal, a drop in this temperature is expected. According to the IPMA, the maximum temperature must have varied between 23 and 36°C, while the minimum between 15 and 21°C in the district capitals. For this Monday and Tuesday there is still a (low) probability of occurrence of regions in the regions of the North coast and Tuesday (30 to 60%).
“The temperature will tend to rise to the typical values of the season throughout the week”, adds the communication institute on social networks.
