The collective “Saccage Toulouse” denounces the poor condition of the streetlights of the Pont-Neuf
The Pont-neuf was at the heart of the July 14 festivities in Toulouse. However, for two years, the lampposts of the oldest bridge in Toulouse have been in a state of sale. The “Sackage Toulouse” movement has been denouncing their deterioration for months.
On the Pont-Neuf, on the evening of July 14, they made a spot. Gutted or patched up with garbage bags and tape, the lamp posts on the city’s oldest bridge are in a state of sale. The metal doors of the missing feet on all the lampposts, the town hall has installed temporary protections of a different nature.
For several months, the “Saccage Toulouse” collective has been denouncing the city’s inaction in the face of this situation. The creator of the movement, who wishes to remain anonymous, explains his approach: “I pass on the Pont-neuf every day to go to work. This damage has existed for several years but, despite my alerts on the Allô Toulouse municipal application or on social networks, the town hall has never acted or provided explanations. The only change is to the mounts used to cover damage. »

Classified furniture
The town hall, questioned, invokes the difficulty of this type of repair. It highlights the historical character of the Pont-neuf furniture and therefore the opportunity to obtain spare parts. However, declared Julie Escudier, mayor of the Center district, at the end of June, “the metal doors of the mast bases are on order. In the meantime, temporary protections are installed. She also urges citizens to use the Allô Toulouse platform to report malfunctions in the city.
The “Saccage Toulouse”, launched in 2021 on social networks, is intended to be completely apolitical. As its creator explains, “We are here to help the town hall. We inform them of decisions that are not good or are insufficient in terms of town planning. The lampposts are an example, but are not the only ones: those of the Saint-Pierre bridge are in the same state. We could talk about posts, planters, abandoned fountains, …”
