Air pollution alert in Toulouse: speed limited to 70 km/h on the ring road
The air of Haute-Garonne is polluted, this Friday, July 15. The State services have decided to limit the speed on the Toulouse ring road and the main axes of the department. Other measures are announced.
“Air pollution alert”. Since this Friday morning, this message has been broadcast on the variable message signs of the Toulouse ring road. The speed is lowered from 90 km/h to 70 km/h. This is a mandatory speed limit.
High levels of ozone
For several days, the air quality has been poor in Haute-Garonne. Sunshine, high temperatures and low wind favored the formation of ozone in the air with high concentration. The information and recommendation threshold will be exceeded and trigger the alert procedure from Friday July 15 at 00:01.

Reduced speed on major roads
State services have decided to implement emergency measures to limit the emission of pollutants. Thus, this Friday, the maximum speed limits are lowered:
- at 70 km/h instead of 90 km/h on the Toulouse ring road
- at 70 km/h on the portions limited to 90 km/h
- at 90 km/h on the portions limited to 110 km/h
- at 110 km/h on portions limited to 130 km/h

Other mandatory measures
The prefecture of Haute-Garonne prohibits the incineration of cut and standing plants and announces the report of industrial polluting operations.
Are there any other recommendations?
In addition to reducing the speed of vehicles, it is advisable to favor public transport, to favor walking or cycling when possible and to practice carpooling. Other recommended measures: postpone mowing with non-electric tools (lawnmower, hedge trimmer) or work involving solvents (paint, varnish), do not burn green waste, do not light an amenity fire and reduce the use of generators.

It is advisable not to engage in intense physical and sporting activities outdoors or indoors, including competitions. For outdoor outings, the prefecture advises to limit them and to make the least effort.
