“Kino Karavane” – Lithuanian cinema tour around Lithuania Culture
Films traveling with Kinovanus, such as Lauryns Bareiša’s feature-length debut Pilgrims, which won a historic victory at the Venice Film Festival, or director Giedrė Žickytė’s Šuolis, which collected the most laurels for a documentary film during the year of the war, not only show very well what themes, personalities and forms relevant for young creators, but also allow to create a portrait of contemporary Lithuanian cinema.
“We want every Lithuanian, no matter where they live, to be the best creators of our country,” says Vitalija Kibildė, head of television services at Telia, the Lithuanian film program partner of Kino Karavan. – We are glad that with the help of “Kino Karavano”, films by Lithuanian filmmakers awarded at international festivals can spread throughout Lithuania, while the excitement of the premiere is still felt, and allows people even in remote corners of the country to get acquainted with current Lithuanian cinema.”
Documentary film stories and live stories of Lithuanian creators
This year, the Lithuanian program of “Cinema Caravan” does not lack reflections of real life: in addition to the already mentioned “Pilgrims” and “Shuolios”, visitors can also enjoy Andrias Lekavičius’ story about maestro Vytautas Kernagis “Kernagis” and the joint Ukrainian-Lithuanian creative film “Mėlyna”, which has received many international awards. earth”, and the experience of watching a movie under the open sky is enriched by meetings with the creators themselves, the heroes of the films, or people who in one way or another respond to the themes discussed in the film stories: actress Ilona Balsyte, the hero of “Blue as Orange Earth” from Ukraine, who is creating a life in Lithuania, a musicologist, presenter Zita Kelmickaitė, publicist Giedris Buč, director Andrius Lekavičius and others.
“Somewhere comes the feeling that not everything has been said about Vyta,” confirmed I. Balsytė, who worked with the maestro, after the screening of the film “Kernagis” held in Palanga this week. – It seems that it would be possible to expand, to reveal how many colors he had”, she said, telling everyone gathered about every meeting with V. Kernagius and working with him, thus adding real stories to the portrait of one of the most famous Lithuanian artists of all times in the eyes of the audience.
