In San Marino the 25th edition of the “Medieval Days – 1462 the Pact” Italpress news agency
ROME (ITALPRESS) – Peak event of the summer 2022 of the Republic of San Marino, “Medieval Days – 1462 The Pact”, was presented to the national press at the embassy of the Republic of San Marino in Rome in the presence of the Secretary of State for Tourism Federico Pedini Amati, by the Director of the Tourist Office Annachiara Sica, by Rossella Fugaro Organizer and Project Manager of the event, by Massimo Andreoli, President of the CERS – European Consortium of Historical Reenactments, by the Director Alessandro Martello and by the Artistic Director Gabriele Bonvicini.
The event, now in its 25th edition this year, will take place on 28, 29, 30 and 31 July in the streets and districts of the historic center of the country. Conceived by the Trends and Wavents agencies, by the European Consortium of Historical Reenactments and by the Italian Committee of National Historical Associations, the festival bears the title “Medieval Days – 1462 Il Patto” with which the organizers strongly wanted to characterize the 2022 edition by linking it conceptually to one of the pivotal dates in San Marino history: on 21 September 1462 the Pacts of Fossombrone were signed between the Papacy and San Marino, united in the war against the Malatesta lords and from which the conformation and geographical extension of San Marino will arise in 1463 which will no longer vary in history.
Visitors will be guided on a journey through the fifteenth century and in particular through the typical characteristics of the land of San Marino and neighbors of the territories of the Malatesta and Montefeltro, a specific reality linked to the events of that 1462 from which the thematic declination of the event takes its cue. The story will take place through the use of tools such as historical re-enactment, live entertainment, teaching, edutainment and gaming. Artistically, the event will unfold on two parallel strands. On the one hand that of the more properly historical storytelling made alive and dynamic by the re-enactment and living history curated by groups mostly from San Marino but also Italians, on the other hand that of the evocative suggestion thanks to live shows, animations and historically reliable entertainment proposals and suitable for a heterogeneous audience ranging from children to adults, from local visitors to foreign guests thanks to a universal language that is that of involvement and emotion.
The trip to the historic center of San Marino will be a continuous alternation of amazement and emotions thanks to the continuous possibility of experiencing an immersive relationship with such a fascinating and distant era. To act almost as a counterpoint to the re-enactment path, artists and shows will alternate in the main squares and streets of the historic center, ranging from performing arts to music, from puppetry to physical theater, from itinerant performances to large fixed shows. A kaleidoscope of entertainment offers that allows you to enjoy different shows but united by the same very high artistic quality and strong capacity for involvement. From jesters to late medieval music, from histrions to acrobats, from storytellers to flag-wavers.
A stage as big as the city, ready to be filled with artists who with their vitality will be able to embody the past, cheer the present and give that lightness necessary to look to the future.
All days will culminate with a show capable of reaching the public, through words, music and performances, with the charm and evocative power of the chosen era. A mixture of living history and live entertainment to give life to a story capable of embodying and transmitting all the still alive and palpable charm of medieval San Marino. Every evening a different show for contents and peculiarities will take place in the enchanting setting of the Cava dei Balestrieri: from the performances of jesters, fire-breathing and musicians in the evening to the skilled choreography of waders on Friday to culminate in two evenings of very high evocative significance that will see the Saturday evening the celebrations of the flag-waving group of the San Marino Crossbowmen Federation and on Sunday the rediscovered Palio del Tricorniolo with the presence of the host cities that celebrate the animation.
All planned activities will be free admission.
