As announced by Foot Mercato, Breel Embolo (25) will sign in Monaco against 12.5 million euros. The Swiss international must pass his medical examination this Thursday. ASM and its Gladbach club reached an agreement on Wednesday.
The striker born in Yaoundé and of Cameroonian origin is the second Monegasque recruit of this summer transfer window. The princely club had already secured the services of Liverpool attacking midfielder Takumi Minamino. The Japanese was bought for 15 million euros.
On the departure side, and as announced in our columns, Benjamin Lecomte will now be loaned for a season to Espanyol Barcelona (14th in La Liga last season), this Wednesday. The 31-year-old porter is on a free loan with no option to buy. The former Lorient goalkeeper arrived from Montpellier in 2019 for a sum of between 12 and 15 million euros. Alexander Nübel having been confirmed as No. 1, Lecomte, who wanted playing time, had no other choice but to try a new adventure. In Catalonia, he will take over from Diego Lopez who left for Rayo Vallecano.
He had already been loaned to Atlético Madrid last season where he had not played a single minute as an understudy for Jan Oblak.
His contract with the princely club runs until 2024.
